when should I change MY brakes?

Newer generation BMWs produced from around 2001 onwards are fitted with a digital service book called “CBS”, otherwise known as Condition Based Servicing.

BMW CBS

This essentially means that your BMW vehicle will tell you when it needs a new set of brake pads. When the BMW brake pad wear sensor is triggered, a digital alert will appear on the speedometer dash area or on the idrive screen (if your vehicle is fitted with an idrive).

However, this system is unable to assess the condition of your brake Discs and Calipers which are essential parts of your braking system. We thoroughly check and test these components and advise if a replacement is required either due to failure or severly poor condition.

Regular maintenance of your braking system is absolutely crucial for the safety of you and your passengers. It minimises the chance of an accident when performing an emergency brake therefore protecting your car insurance from motor claims that could have been avoided.
