Introduction
The N55 engine used in the new BMW M2 is the evolution of the N54 which uses a twinscroll turbocharger instead of two single scroll turbos in addition to variable valve lift to control engine rpm. This platform responds extremely well to tuning and can achieve over 500bhp with an upgraded turbo charger.
We can significantly increase the performance of your BMW M2 engine in stages while keeping within the safe limits and tolerances of all driveline components. We achieve this by reprogramming the DME (Digital Motor Electronics) with a performance map that was developed through years of research and extensive dyno testing. Coupled with additional hardware upgrades, the result is a smooth and linear power delivery, retaining the original BMW feel, but a lot more power all over the rev range.
It may be hard to believe, but fuel economy is actually improved under normal driving conditions. This is largely due to the huge amount of extra torque that is now available in the lower rev range which means that you don’t need to rev your engine as much to pick up speed. The automatic transmission does not drop gears as easily when you demand more power in day to day driving.
does it affect reliability?
It does not affect reliability as long as you maintain your vehicle by following all recommended service schedules. Your vehicle is equipped with Condition Based Servicing (CBS) which keeps track of all main service items on the iDrive computer. In addition to this we also recommend that you change your oil, filter and spark plugs at half the manufacturer recommended intervals in order to maintain a healthy engine.
