Introduction
The 123d 2.0l 4cyl diesel engine is equipped with the same sequential twin turbo technology as the 535d (M57 engine). This layout adopts a smaller turbo charge for low rpm boost and a secondary larger turbo charger which takes over seamlessly at higher rpm’s to provide top end torque and horsepower.
We can extract tremendous power from this compact diesel engine without actually stressing the components. It’s all about making healthy horsepower. This means the engine should not be overly stressed when producing peak power. At BM Specialists we can increase the performance of your 123d by keeping within the safe limits and tolerances of all driveline components. We achieve this by reprogramming the DME (Digital Motor Electronics) with a performance map that was developed through years of research and extensive dyno testing. The result is a smooth and linear power delivery, retaining the original BMW feel, but a lot more power all over the rev range.
Stage 2 and Stage 3 unleash even more power by utilising the highest quality hardware upgrades while also increasing engine and turbo charger longevity.
It may be hard to believe, but fuel economy is actually improved under normal driving conditions. This is largely due to the huge amount of extra torque that is now available in the lower rev range which means that you don’t need to rev your engine as much to pick up speed. Driving becomes much more relaxed as you are able to maintain low engine revs under normal driving conditions.
does it affect reliability?
It does not affect reliability as long as you maintain your vehicle by following the recommended service schedules. Your vehicle is equipped with Condition Based Servicing (CBS) which keeps track of all main service items on the iDrive computer. In addition to this we also recommend that you change your oil and filter at half the manufacturer recommended intervals in order to maintain a healthy engine.

WE RECOMMEND 7,000 MILE OIL SERVICE INTERVALS for tuned vehicles
